PUNE: The deluge in Chennai not withstanding Marco Materazzi's boys are well focused and determined to clinch the fourth and last available semifinal berth in the ISL as they come up against hosts FC Pune City here on Saturday evening.
Chennaiyin FC have overcome the odds of uncertainty back home created from the incessant rains which have inundated the city and travelled extensively to reach Pune, venue for their final and important league fixture.
First they travelled by road from Chennai to Tirupati for around three to four hours from where they took a chartered flight to Mumbai. Then they hit the expressway to reach Pune at 3 am on Friday morning. But the fatigue is not going to get them, said coach Marco Materazzi. “When you have an opportunity like this one it does not matter how much you have travelled -one or two days. We would have walked all the way just to be here if needed.
“I congratulate my players for creating this third chance for us to make it to the semis. They have put into practice what I told them. So it's mostly because of their intelligence that we are here,“ said Materazzi.
